Bingo4Good is a non-profit created by me, Pippa Laffler, when I was 10 years old, to encourage my friends and neighbors to give back while playing a fun game of Bingo. For the past three years we have joined together annually to play Bingo, raise money for incredible causes, and have fun! Our latest Bingo Night raised $537, and through the help of Donors Choose and corporate matching partners including Amazon and CBS Young Sheldon, we were able to make a total impact of $923.47. Not only did we have a blast playing Bingo, we funded projects in seven classrooms throughout the United States, including:
Growing up, my grandmother would bring a Bingo set to play at holidays such as Thanksgiving. She would spin the wheel and call out the numbers while my sisters and I competed to win the largest prizes. These were always some of the best nights of the year!
Ever since first grade I have dreamed of being an activist, helping people everywhere who are struggling -- with homelessness, education, and self-acceptance. I knew I wanted to create a fundraiser for these causes, but I wasn't sure how or what I should do. My mom reminded me of our family Bingo tradition, and before we knew it, Bingo4good was created. Players contribute $5 to "buy" a Bingo board, or 4, everyone chips in to donate prizes... and the games (and good) begin!
